Raku Flora #4
Bisque fired pieces are glazed and put into a raku kiln which reaches 1000 degrees. Then opened while at temperature and placed into a box of combustible materials to achieve the crackling effect. The red flora imagery is hand painted with underglaze prior to firing, the red is achieved by being sprayed with fire post firing that enriches the red and the crackle effect.
This piece was wheelthrown, therefore each is unique and cannot be recreated.
All pieces have been sealed to be waterproof. Care should always be taken as though they are fired they are still delicate pieces.
This piece is a seconds piece as the neck unfortunately snapped and has been repaired with the kintsugi method and the price reflects the flaw of the piece.
